Søren Paaske Johnsen is Research Consultant and Associate Professor in Clinical Epidemiology at Aarhus University Hospital and Aarhus University, Denmark.
Professor Johnsen’s primary field of interest is health services research and quality of clinical care, including the use of evidence-based care, effectiveness and safety of interventions, and evaluation of quality improvement strategies. This research involves extensive use of health registers, including clinical quality databases and administrative registers.
Professor Johnsen received his medical degree and PhD in Epidemiology from Aarhus University. He has worked with real-world evidence studies since the late 1990s and was Head of the Centre for Clinical Databases in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology, Aarhus University Hospital, for 10 years from 2002. This centre is one of three national Danish centres supporting clinical databases with expertise in clinical epidemiology and biostatistics. Professor Johnsen currently leads a research group at Aarhus University Hospital and Aarhus University.
